The celebrations of the 60th anniversary of the iconic TAG Heuer<\/a><\/strong> Carrera Chronograph<\/strong> continue at this year\u2019s Watches and Wonders with the introduction of a new model inspired by the collector favorite \u201cglass box\u201d design. It earns its name from its sapphire crystal, which is shaped like the domed hesalite crystals found on some vintage Heuer Carrera models from the 1970s. Now it has been redeveloped with modern technologies so that the curve flows seamlessly over the tachymeter scale that runs around the dial edge and into the case. <\/p>\n

In the same way, the flange and indexes have been curved, too, further contributing to the watch\u2019s seamless aesthetic, coherence, and legibility. TAG Heuer offers two color options, one with a signature blue dial on a blue calfskin leather strap, and a second with a black-and-silver \u201creverse panda\u201d dial. On both, the deep azur\u00e9 subdials are surrounded by high-contrast silver rings, making the totalizers stand out. In addition, the minutes scale running around the outer edge of the dial is highlighted by an orange dot over each hour marker. <\/p>\n

As part of the redesign, the stainless steel case measuring 39mm in diameter and water-resistant to 100 meters, and the chronograph pushers have also been revisited. The overall ergonomics have been honed and refined, with a high finishing quality which highlights the elegant appeal. <\/p>\n

Inside both iterations of the TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph is an evolved version of TAG Heuer\u2019s in-house automatic chronograph caliber, the Heuer 02. <\/p>\n

Named TH20-00 and visible through the watch\u2019s sapphire crystal case back, this next-generation caliber which was developed under the reign of TAG Heuer\u2019s Movements Director Carole Forestier, now features an oscillating weight offering bidirectional winding, whereas previous versions only charged the movement\u2019s mainspring if the rotor moved in a counter-clockwise direction. The power reserve of 80 hours is still maintained.<\/p>\n

The TAG Heuer Carrera Chronograph will be available beginning in April 2023 and will retail for $6,450.<\/p>\n
