Earlier this year, Seiko <\/a><\/strong>introduced the King Seiko<\/a><\/strong>, which was first marketed in 1960 and revived in 2021, in a new model generation with a smaller case diameter of 38.5mm and a svelte height of 10.7mm. Now, the Japanese watch giant adds a beautiful new execution distinguished by a delicate floral pattern inspired by the chrysanthemum as an homage <\/em>to Tokyo where the King Seiko watch was born.<\/p>\n

A symbol of longevity and rejuvenation, the chrysanthemum is highly significant in Japanese culture. On the dial of the newcomer it is brought to life by a pattern of finely intersecting lines known as \u201ckiku tsunagi-mon,\u201d<\/em> which means a \u201cchrysanthemum pattern connected to itself\u201d in Japanese. This pattern follows the tradition of Edo-kiriko<\/strong> glassware, a form of traditional glass cutting that is considered a popular craft of Japan. \u201cEdo-kiriko\u201d,<\/em> meaning \u201cfaceted objects from Edo\u201d, is known for its intricate beauty and unique designs achieved by skillfully cutting multiple facets.<\/p>\n

As is characteristic of King Seiko, the polished stainless steel case is faceted with large flat surfaces and sharp angles. With a diameter of 38.1mm and a height of 11.4mm, it is water resistant to 50 meters. Beating inside is the automatic caliber 6L35 with 28,800 vph and a power reserve of 45 hours. It features Seiko\u2019s Magic Lever which improves the efficiency of the winding system. <\/p>\n

The Seiko King Seiko ref. SJE095<\/strong> will be available in the brand\u2019s boutiques and at select retailers worldwide from October 2023 in a limited edition of 600 pieces. In addition to the metal bracelet, Seiko will supply it with a color-coordinated leather strap. Pricing is marked at approximately $1,600 when converted to USD.<\/p>\n
