Long a trailblazer in the realm of accessible luxury and automatic timepieces, the esteemed American-founded watchmaker Bulova introduces its latest update to its Classic collection with five new watches joining its Sutton series.
Including two new pocket watches and three tank-inspired wrist watches, the new additions pay homage to Bulova’s rich heritage– spanning over 147 years of uninterrupted history. The Sutton collection specifically takes inspiration from the brand’s early foundations and the visionary efforts of its founder, Joseph Bulova, with the series seamlessly blending classic elements with contemporary styling.
The Bulova Classic Sutton Pocket Watches
Fusing the classic elements of pocket watches with the distinct styling of the Sutton, the two new mechanical pocket watches joining the series feature bold skeletonized dials and plenty of standout details.
Featuring a 50mm stainless steel case, a beautiful vertical brushing against a refined polishing elevates the design, while a snap back case back adds a touch of historical novelty. The bale of the case follows the architectural lines of the aesthetic, with a sharp-looking chain providing continuity to a signature Bulova tuning fork clasp.
On the expansive dial, the differences between the two Sutton options are made apparent, with one featuring a blue-on-silver colorway, and the other a grey-on-gold tone option; each dial option makes use of charming Roman numerals upon their skeletonized displays. Powering the mechanical operation of the timepieces is the Miyota Caliber 8N24, with a 42-hour reserve ensuring reliable wear.
Available now the Bulova Classic collection Sutton pocket watches are priced from $595 to $695.
The Bulova Classic Sutton Tanks
Further expanding the Sutton collection in Bulova’s catalog are three new tank watches, with a mechanical edition leading two additional quartz options. Each of the models take inspiration from early 20th century art deco styles, featuring rectangular lines and historically-influenced aesthetics.
The Sutton automatic tank watch features a two-tone stainless steel case measuring 33mm by 49mm, with a silver and gold-tone stainless steel bracelet following its lines securing the timepiece to the wrist. Underneath a curved mineral crystal, a textured white dial adds to the watch’s chic style and quick legibility, while an open aperture between 6 and 9 o’clock showcases the beating heart of its movement. The mechanism itself is the Miyota Caliber 82SO, a 21-jewel automatic movement featuring a 42-hour power reserve, with it protected via the watch’s 30m of water resistance. The new automatic model is priced at $550.
In addition to the automatic Sutton, two quartz tank watches have also been added to the series. Each of these timepieces feature a smaller size on the wrist of 21mm by 32.5mm, each executed in a gold-tone stainless steel; both watches also make use of a mother-of-pearl dial protected via a curved mineral crystal and 30m of water resistance. Differentiating the duo is the one’s use of diamond accents on its dial alongside an alligator-grain strap with two-tone stitching, while the other opts for Roman numeral accents alongside a two-tone stainless steel bracelet. Both the bracelet and strap options are fitted with easy release latched spring bars to allow for quick interchangeability.
The new diamond-accented quartz Sutton is priced at $350, while the second version is marked at $395.
