In 2023 Frederique Constant celebrates its 35th anniversary and the brand coincidingly made its debut at Watches and Wonders this year. The latest iteration of the Manufacture Classic Tourbillon, a three-hand watch in pink gold with a tailor-made movement, honors both milestones. The name-giving grand complication is displayed at 6 o’clock on the very minimalist dial, which has an elegant anthracite tone with a sunray finish and manually applied pink gold indexes.
Consisting of 81 components, the cage of the minute tourbillon indicates the small seconds via a small pink gold hand when revolving. Fitted with a non-magnetic silicon escapement wheel and anchor, this regulating organ is also unaffected by variations in temperature, which contributes to the precision rate.
While the first generations of the self-winding manufacture caliber FC-980, which was first introduced in 2009, revealed the tourbillon through a comma-shaped cut-out in the dial, it is now displayed through a circle. It goes without saying that it is beautifully finished.
The same rings true for the movement which comes to life through the exhibition case back. It shows intricate details such as perlage, beveling, Geneva Waves, mirror polishing, and a partially skeletonized oscillating weight. While previous editions measured 42mm in diameter, the latest edition comes with a diameter of 39mm and a height of 10.9mm.
Limited to 150 pieces, the Frederique Constant Classic Manufacture Tourbillon retails for $27,995.
