Simply beautiful or beautifully simple? Both statements are true of the Orion from Nomos Glashütte, because minimalism is the essence of this classic that was introduced more than 25 years ago. Now, the manufacture is expanding the collection with three limited models, which reflect on the tradition of more than 175 years of Saxon watchmaking: Orion Neomatik, Orion Neomatik 39 and Orion Neomatik 41 Date.
Driven by the brand’s contemporary self-winding genuine movement, the neomatik caliber, the design of the trio is based on historical timepieces made in the master class of Glashütte watchmaking apprentices in the days of yore. As such, they are distinguished by faceted golden indices on a white silver-plated dial and steel-blued hands. The bezel is notably slim and further highlights the minimalist expression of the watch faces. The same rings true for the subsidiary seconds that are not recessed here in contrast to the regular collection.
As is typical for this collection, the newcomers are presented in elegantly slim cases, with diameters of 36.4mm, 39mm, and 41mm that have the look and feel of a polished pebble.
The exhibition case backs display the fine quality decorations we know from Nomos, such as the Glashütte three-quarter plate, ribbing polish, and tempered screws. Also visible is the brand’s in-house crafted assortment, denoted by its tempered blue balance spring.
Pricing for the Nomos Glashütte Orion Neomatik is marked at $3,580, at $3,920 for the Orion Neomatik 39, and at $4,200 for the Orion Neomatik 41 Date. All three versions of the special edition are limited to 175 pieces each and come with a black Horween Genuine Shell Cordovan strap.
