The trend towards smaller and slimmer cases continues unabated in watchmaking, even in the realms of diver’s watches. The downsizing of this watch type poses a particular challenge to engineers, since the smaller the case, the more difficult it is to guarantee the water resistance.
Doxa’s SUB 200T is the latest example of a more moderate diver’s watch that, while maintaining its 200 meter water resistance, is presented in a more versatile diameter of 39 mm and thickness of 10.7 mm, making it suitable for out-of-water occasions and elegant settings.
In addition to its new compact size, the iconic diver’s watch that first took to the water in 1967 is also available in a new color way: Emerald Green, which is paired with golden-hued hands. This color joins the existing palette of seven awesome options – Professional Orange, Searambler Silver, Sharkhunter Black, Caribbean Navy, Divingstar Yellow, Aquamarine Turquoise, and Whitepearl White. These luminescent dials are offered in “Iconic” executions or with “Sunray” finishes.
Despite the smaller case size, the SUB 200T retains the sought-after tool watch functionality and aesthetics, including the patented unidirectional rotating bezel with integrated US Navy No Decompression Limits table, a benchmark for diver safety. It goes without saying that the bold markers and hands are coated with Superluminova for best readability under water. A date display at 3 o’clock, a screw-down crown and a sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating complete the watch.
Inside the SUB 200T, the heart is a Swiss, self-winding mechanical movement beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour and offering a 38-hour power reserve.
The Doxa SUB 200T is offered with a ‘beads of rice’ bracelet and color-coordinated rubber straps, with a price tag of $1,590 respectively $1,550, and can be ordered on the brand’s website.
